Woodlands Methodist Church Built in 1909 by the architect David Barclay. It was built for Swedenborgians (the New Church) – followers of Emanuel Swedenborg, an 18th Century philosopher and ‘mystic’ who founded the New Church in 1787. His theology and that of his church is quite interesting to read about. His family crest can be seen within the church http://methodistchurchinscotland.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Woodlands-Church-Information.pdf He also studied science and engineering - for more about this interesting history - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emanuel_Swedenborg Photo : J.Wilson Map Reference: Eurowalk 4: Woodlands to Sauchiehall
